Local English Teacher

Go Ahead Organization (Go Ahead!) is a non-government and non-profit organization. It was established with the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia # 559, on February 09, 2018. It is running many projects to help unprivileged people through education, rural development, vocational training skills and family empowerment in rural areas of Taingkouk district, Kampong Thom province and Kampong Leng district, Kampong Chhnang province. iHerb Open Space School is an English School Project of Go Ahead Organization which provides students free of charge for English learning, computer skills, nutrition food, and hygiene. We currently have over 1000 students learning English and computers within iHerb Open Space School (iOSS). Go Ahead! is now seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of local English teacher.

Duties

–  Respond to all requests, perform all tasks assigned and follow all instructions given by the School Director / Head Teacher, diligently and without delay as like, examination preparing.

–  Meet with both the School Director / Head Teacher on a regular basis, or when requested, to discuss student progress or to ask for help with planning and programming if need be.

–  Contact the School Director / Head Teacher / Social Worker when students are three days absent without permission.

–  Report to the School Director / Head Teacher / Social Worker whenever a student drops out.

–  Attend professional development to improve teaching methods and knowledge of the curriculum, as directed.

–  Maintain good relationships between volunteers, students and other employees.

–  Assess each student by his/her performance in tests, homework, examination, conduct and attendance and then submit student result sheets to the School Director / Head Teacher two weeks after each examination.

–  Try to have a personal understanding about students and help them to develop in the best way he/she can or advise them accordingly.

–  Immediately inform the School Director / Head Teacher/ Social Worker if any child becomes unwell.
–  Are under no circumstances allowed to take any money from the students.

– The teacher makes best efforts to teach English to his/her students at all times.

–  Ensure that the class is well organized and clean.

–  Ensure that students are provided with enough study materials and provide students with right educational activities and experiences enabling them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.

–  Be familiar with the school curriculum and policies and read the teachers’ manual of the curriculum.

–  Prepare Lesson Plans in advance, making them as interesting as possible. Submit these and other documents to the School Director / Head teacher as instructed.

Requirements

– Candidates need to graduate grade 12 at least.

– The candidate is able to speak and write English well.
– The candidate is able to work with children as well as a team.
– As the candidate is working with children so the candidate has to have police clearance.
– Having some experience of English teaching or working with children.
