Our Story
About Go Ahead!
The English Project was set up in January 2013 with 5 staff members only. At the time, the organization did not yet have its own office and classrooms. So, it was decided to renovate the old buildings of Wat Por primary school which were destroyed by the flood. The renovation took only a few months. With a great cooperation of all levels of local authorities and the Chief of Taingkouk District (Former of Baray) Official of Education, Youth and Sport, we have received 4 rooms, including 3 classrooms for English class with 420 students and an office.
With the growth of more students in 2014-2015, Go Ahead! has decided to build their own buildings. In the five buildings, we have: (1) Two building for English classes with 4 classrooms, (2) one building for Computer class and Library, (3) one building with an office room, a staff meeting room and a storage room for maintenance. The last building includes the boys and girls bathroom.Â
In 2015, we had extra our projects to another location is called Kampong Leng district, Kampong Chhnang province so we started with the same way at Kampong Thom by renovated the Dar primary school in the location of Dar village, Dar commune, Kampong Leng district and Kampong Chhnang province and after the renovation, we had got three classrooms for English Classes. In 2018 we added our goal to another new location, it’s Somrong Sen village, Somrong Sen commune and Kampong Leng district with a new building and have two classrooms. One classroom is an English class and another gave to the public primary school. The initiative grew in scope and impact, laying the foundation for long-term development. In 2018, it transitioned into an independent entity and was officially registered with the Royal Government of Cambodia as the Go Ahead Organisation, under registration number Prk. No #559. This milestone marked a new chapter in our mission: to serve rural communities through inclusive education and sustainable development.
